If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), due to the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), beginning 25 May 2018, we will no longer display your Name, Street Address, Phone Number and E-mail in the WHOIS. Your Country and Province/State (as well as Technical data such as the Registar name, Creation Date, or Name Servers) will continue to be displayed.
While ICANN’s agreements protect registrants from potential spam, many GoDaddy customers still express concern about their personal name, address, and phone number being so readily available online. For domains registered under GDPR, the amount of data that is published in the WHOIS is restricted, which provides a level of privacy protection.
Furthermore, if you’re a web developer, you have an important obligation to your clients to offer them a complete sense of privacy and protection, no matter the scope of your project.
