Customize my banners in Advanced Email Security

Change how Advanced Email Security displays banners or tags on your incoming email messages.

Required: Check which version of Advanced Email Security you're using by signing in and checking what's displayed at the top of your dashboard.
  • If you’re using Advanced Email Security from Proofpoint, you’ll see a white header with “GoDaddy."

You can change whether each tag type is shown on your messages, customize the settings for Learn More (displayed in the upper-right corner of each tag) and add custom text.

  1. Sign in to Advanced Email Security. Use your Microsoft 365 email address and password (your GoDaddy username and password won't work here).
  2. Select Email, and then Email Tagging.

  3. To change whether each tag type is shown on incoming messages, under Enable Tag Types, switch the Informational Tags or Warning Tags toggles. By default, both tag types are enabled (show blue).

  4. Change the settings for Learn More (displayed at the upper-right corner of each tag):
    • To change whether Learn More is shown on each banner, switch the Display a link in the warning tag to learn more toggle.
    • To allow users to take action from Learn More, switch the Allows users to perform actions on learn more toggle.
    • The Learn More toggles are shown.
  5. To add text below the warning tag, turn on the Include additional text below the warning tag toggle, and then enter your text.

  6. When you're done, select Save. Your tag changes will be saved.

You can change how much detail is shown, and even suppress certain banner types on messages.

  1. Sign in to Advanced Email Security. Select Sign in using Microsoft account and use your Microsoft 365 email address and password (your GoDaddy username and password won't work here).
  2. Select Settings.

  3. Under Banner Format, choose your preferred format:
    • Minimal: Lists the threat type found in the message and a Details link for more information. This format is selected by default.

    • Minimal (all links inside color banner): Like Minimal but includes the footer links inside the banner

    • Verbose: Includes the details within each message

    • Micro: Doesn't show any threat information. The user will need to use the Details link in the footer for specific threat information.

  4. Under Customize Which Banners To Include, manage the settings for your banners, including when to display them on messages:
    • Trusted 3rd Party / Internal Mail: Choose which banners appear on email received from addresses within your organization or on your trusted third-party senders list.
    • External Mail: Choose which banners appear on email received from addresses outside of your organization.
  5. If you suppressed any banners in the previous step, confirm the checkbox next to Always include the "Report This Email" link is selected, even if no banner is included. This allows users to report messages even when there isn't a banner.
  6. At the bottom of the page, select Save Changes. Your banner changes will be saved. They can take up to an hour to take effect.
