Connect my Websites + Marketing site to a domain

A custom domain is another way to personalize your Websites + Marketing site. Domains are different than the website you've built—they're your site's digital street address. We'll help you choose a good one and connect it, or you can connect one you've bought elsewhere.

Remember, the cost of hosting your website is separate from the cost of your domain. Find out more about the differences between your domain and your website.

If you're on a free trial, you'll need to sign up for a paid plan. Compare plans and pricing.

You've got a few options if you want to change your website's domain name (also known as address or URL):

Use a GoDaddy domain you already own (must be in the same GoDaddy account as your website).
  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Scroll down, expand Websites + Marketing and select Manage next to your site.
  3. Select Edit Website or Edit Site to open your website builder.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Next to your domain name, select Manage.
  6. On the popup that appears, select On a domain I already own, and then select Continue.
  7. Select the domain you want from your list of GoDaddy domains, and then select Continue.
  8. Confirm that the domain is correct and it's the selected option.
  9. Select Save & Publish or Save. Your changes won't be visible to other people until you publish.
Connect your Websites + Marketing site to a new GoDaddy domain
  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Scroll down, expand Websites + Marketing and select Manage next to your site.
  3. Select Edit Website or Edit Site to open your website builder.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Select Connect Domain. (Been here before? Select Manage.)
Note: If you're on a free plan, you'll be asked to upgrade so that you can add a custom domain.
  6. Choose Get a new domain and select Continue. Or, if you already have a domain in your account, choose it and select Save & Publish.
  7. We'll suggest some domain names for you based on your free domain name, or you can search for a new one.
  8. Follow the prompts to add site protection (optional) and complete your purchase. Select Continue to return to connecting your new domain to your website.
  9. Check that the domain name is correct and it's the selected option, and then select Save & Publish or Save. Your changes won't be visible to other people until you publish.
Use a non-GoDaddy domain that you bought elsewhere.
  7. Select Use a different domain.
  8. Enter your domain and extension, without "www" in front of it, e.g. mycoolsite.com, not www.mycoolsite.com., and then select Continue.
  9. In a new window, we'll show you information specifically for your site. Sign in to your DNS provider or your other GoDaddy account and change your DNS records to the new information. Check with your DNS provider if you need help.
Note: If you have two GoDaddy accounts, one with your site and one with your domain name, transfer the domain name to the account with your site.
  10. After you've changed your DNS records, return to the previous window and select I'm done, continue setup.
  11. Check that the domain name is correct and it's the selected option, and then select Save & Publish or Save. Your changes won't be visible to other people until you publish.

Connecting your Websites + Marketing site to a domain usually takes a few minutes but can take up to 72 hours, especially when connecting your site to a non-GoDaddy domain.
