Add cookie & tracking alert to my website

Like most website building tools, Website Builder uses “cookies,” small data files, to track visitors' movements across a site. In the European Union and other jurisdictions (depending on applicable law), websites may be required to provide its visitors the option of accepting the placement of these cookies via a cookie tracking and alert section. Consult your own legal counsel to determine if a tracking and alert section is necessary for your business/website.

Adding a Cookies & Tracking section gives your visitors a way to do exactly that.

Note: The Cookies & Tracking section works hand-in-hand with Website Builder's Privacy Policy section.

  1. Go to your GoDaddy product page.
  2. Scroll down to Websites + Marketing and select Manage next to the website you want to change.
  3. Click Edit Site.
  4. Click the Site Settings panel.
    click Site Settings panel
  5. Click the Cookies & Tracking panel.
    click Site Settings panel
  6. The Title, Message, and Button Label fields are already filled in, but you can customize any of the three. The Message field works well for a short cookie policy. If you have a longer, detailed privacy policy, see Add privacy policy to my website.

Note: The How it works link explains GoDaddy's own privacy policy under the GDPR.

  7. When you're ready, click Publish.
  8. To see how the Cookie Policy window will appear to your site visitors, click View Site.
    click View Site button
  9. The Cookie Policy window — with any custom text you created — appears on every page until the visitor clicks Accept & Close.
