As it turns out, there are lots of characters that can’t be used in a traditional domain name. French uses diacritics in many of their words, and in German, the umlaut is common. Prior to IDNs, those domain names would have to live on without the proper spelling, which could lead to mispronunciations and confused customers. But with an IDN, your company’s name looks the same online and off. Plus, it gives you an opportunity to double up on domain names — 去爸爸.co, godaddyespañol.com and Godaddy.com, for example. And that’s a solid strategy.
