How to see if one of my former domains got hijacked?

How can I open a ticket to see how one of my former domain got hijacked ?

I had a domain that I own for years, it got over my radar somehow and not I realized was transfered to GoDaddy, sent them a email but didn't hear back from them.

I've had that domain for easily 6+ years, got it via the yahoo domains. And then I transitioned to google email accounts and I think that might be how it got under the radar. That's just an assumption thou.

Any thoughts on this ? Please drop me a line or two!

@ctin Dropcatch is a backordering service so your domain wasn't hijacked, it expired and picked up by someone else.

@ctin Is the whois information in your name? If so, you should be able to recover the account through Godaddy. If not, I'm not really sure what can be done besides legal action.

If would be on my name, would be awesome. I just want to find the way it got transferred over to GD.

Should I have received a letter ? That I am due ? I know I had it locked. Anyhow, you can send me an offline message to give you the domain name.

Much appreciated Justin!

@ctin You can look at this whois information here: https://www.godaddy.com/whois

When I originally noticed it the whois info pointed to GD. I even think I've sent a ticket to the GD support when I noticed it. Interesting enough is I don't remember receiving any notice that I'd lose it.

Most likely what happened my credit card expired and the auto payment stopped and didn't see any expiration email. Technically my fault, I wish I'd have received a letter or something.

@ctin the domain dropped on the 19th of this month so it would've first expired around 45 days before that. I let domains drop at Godaddy all the time and they sent an obnoxious amount of reminder emails. You may want to check which email address you have on file at Godaddy to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I think there is some misunderstanding here

  • I got this domain from yahoo domains, way back. 2005(?)
  • When I wanted to check the status I noticed that it was transferred to GD. (earlier this year)
  • Earlier in the year I wrote a note to the GD support inquiring how come my domain got moved to GD. (I haven't received anything back)
  • The 19th event is a different event, note I've open this thread on ‎06-12-2018 12:22 PM (June this year)
Hopefully I can find more info if you think is useful. I just try to see what happened.
